FROM AUGUST, PANASONIC DO BRASIL WILL INTRODUCE THE LUMIX PRODUCT LINE FOR ALL OF LATIN AMERICA
The announcement was made during Cine Gear Expo 2024, an event held at Warner Bros. Studios in Los Angeles, United States, from June 7 to 9. The new product line will be added to the ProAV and projector families.
Panasonic do Brasil will incorporate the Lumix camera and lens lineup into its portfolio for marketing throughout Latin America. This will begin in August with master distribution handled by Merlin Distributor and its network of resellers across the region.
"For some years now, Panasonic has been following the growth of the mirrorless camera categories due to the high demand in content production. When Panasonic do Brasil took on the responsibility of managing operations in Latin America, we already considered including these categories for Brazil and Latin America. However, we believed it was first necessary to structure and strengthen the product line that was available for the region: professional ProAV cameras and projectors," said Rodrigo Costa, Sales Manager of Panasonic do Brasil. "Now that our marketing network has been implemented and established, we understand that it is the ideal time to introduce this category to the Latin American markets. Lumix is a well-recognized and well-established product line worldwide," the executive added.
Another News at Cine Gear Expo PANASONIC LUMIX GH7 WILL SUPPORT ARRI LOGC3 RECORDING IN 10-BIT VIDEO MODES
In Los Angeles, Panasonic also announced that its new Lumix GH7 camera has obtained the ARRI LogC3 license. This is the logarithmic gamma curve used to preserve more dynamic range and increase post-production flexibility, used in ARRI cameras, and, as its name suggests, it is the third generation of ARRI Log. The image processing of the ARRI LogC3 curve in the Lumix GH7 has been certified by ARRI for the implementation of this feature. The ARRI LogC3 can be used in the LUMIX GH7 for 10-bit recording modes in creative video mode. Footage shot with ARRI LogC3 on the GH7 can be easily converted to any look in the ARRI look library; and it is also possible to store the LUT package for 709 conversion in the Lumix GH7 LUT library and combine it with the Real Time LUT function to capture videos with ARRI LUT, directly from the camera.
With the incorporation of ARRI LogC3, the GH7 could become a viable option for special use cases (crash camera, drone camera, etc.) in productions that use ARRI Alexa cameras. In this regard, it is worth noting that the ARRI LogC3 of the Lumix GH7 employs a curve that matches the standard ISO 800 sensitivity of the ARRI camera. Unlike Panasonic's own V-Log, ARRI LogC3 compatibility will not be included in the camera for free. To obtain it, it will be necessary to purchase a separate software upgrade key (DMW-SFU3A).
