On July 29, Panasonic | LUMIX held the inaugural edition of the “Simple Done Well Is Professional” workshop, an immersive event for audiovisual professionals, creators, and enthusiasts looking to combine technical knowledge with creative practice. The goal was to create an experience where theory, experimentation, and networking converged in a single space. Participants explored various approaches to photography and video, tested equipment in real-world production scenarios, and created content within an environment designed to inspire the creative eye.

The venue chosen for this inaugural edition was Casa Kaeru in São Paulo, a project by architect Ruy Ohtake, where the minimalist, Brutalist architecture provided the backdrop for the workshop’s activities. With its abundant natural light, textures, striking architectural lines, and varied atmospheres, the space became part of the immersion's visual narrative. Each area presented new challenges regarding framing, composition, and movement, transforming the architecture into raw material for the practical exercises.

The event’s concept stemmed from a common concern among content creators: the feeling that high-quality production requires inaccessible equipment or complex technical expertise. For Daniel Cajal, a LUMIX LATAM ambassador and one of the workshop facilitators, the event was conceived precisely to dispel this notion.

“The theme emerged from something we all share: the insecurity we feel when creating and publishing content, fearing that the quality seen on social media is unattainable or that mastering complex theories is a prerequisite. ‘The Simple Done Well Is Professional’ is an immersive experience that offers opportunities, networking, and knowledge in a relaxed, straightforward way.”

This approach was central to the entire program: learning by doing, experimenting without unnecessary complexity, and understanding how simple choices, when executed well, can elevate the quality of a production.

In this context, the LUMIX S9 took center stage in the hands-on activities, serving as the key link between the workshop’s concept and actual content creation. Equipped with a full-frame sensor, a compact design, and features tailored for creators, the camera demonstrated firsthand how
cinematic quality, portability, and an agile workflow can be combined. Highlights included its versatility across different production styles—from portraits and architecture to social media videos, and the ease of transferring files to a smartphone without compromising image quality.

For Daniel Cajal, the S9 represents more than just a piece of technical equipment. “The camera goes beyond being a tool; it is an extension of the user. Currently, the S9 is the most powerful and affordable full-frame entry-level camera on the market. Its versatility and ability to transfer cinematic-quality files to a smartphone make it the perfect camera for creators seeking a distinctive aesthetic for their content.”

The experience also featured creator Alba Reis, who highlighted the practical and unconventional nature of the immersion: “People should come to this workshop because it breaks the mold. We like to focus on hands-on practice and introduce diverse references.” This spirit of experimentation was a key highlight of the first edition: less emphasis on ready-made formulas and more room to build a repertoire, gain confidence, and develop a unique voice. According to Daniel Cajal, that is precisely the project's main goal.

“The workshop was designed to be a turning point in the lives of the participants. All a participant needs is a smile on their face. I have no doubt they will leave with plenty of stories, confidence, and the motivation to express themselves through audiovisual media in a way that is simple, well-executed, and professional.”

The initiative reinforces a purpose that guides LUMIX in every encounter: to show that professional quality is less about complexity and more about the ability to transform good ideas into well-crafted narratives. When a rich background and creativity go hand in hand, the simple can, in fact, be extraordinary.
