PANASONIC EXPANDS NDI SUPPORT IN ITS PRODUCT LINE FOR THE PROFESSIONAL AUDIOVISUAL SECTOR
Panasonic Entertainment & Communication Co., Ltd. announced that it will expand NDI support within its product line for the professional audiovisual industry starting later this year.
NDI updates, which previously required a paid license from Vizrt NDI AB, will be available via a free firmware update between December 2024 and April 2025. After this period, models will ship with NDI capabilities out of the box.
The free update will enable NDI functionality as a standard feature on more than 80,000 units currently used in various video production environments. As IP technology continues to play a larger role in video production and quickly becomes a standard in equipment development, this shift will help expand the NDI ecosystem for greater efficiency and flexibility in workflows. .
PANASONIC COMPATIBILITY WITH NDI IN LATIN AMERICA
Specifically for the Latin American professional market, the products that are part of Panasonic's offer for this region and that have free NDI are the AW-UE40, AW-UE50, AW-UE150 and CX350.
Regarding this important news for the audiovisual sector in Latin America, Rodrigo Costa, Sales Manager of Panasonic commented: “By making this standardization of the integration with NDI throughout our product line, we are making a clear difference in the progress we are making in the professional industry through the seamless adoption of IP-enabled video equipment, which is of absolute relevance to all our customers in the region.”
NDI WITH PANASONIC
NDI, an open standard for connecting video equipment over IP networks, will enable devices to build systems on standard gigabit IP networks, simplifying the transition of video production workflows to IP environments. As a result of this update, more devices can access NDI-enabled systems on the network, such as switches, cameras, and media servers. This allows video production teams to seamlessly create and distribute a wide range of content to their audiences. Additionally, Panasonic NDI-enabled PTZ cameras support Power-over-Ethernet (PoE), control, and audio/video transmission over a single Ethernet cable, significantly improving ease of installation and reducing wiring costs.
“Our collaboration with Panasonic marks an important milestone in the expansion of the NDI ecosystem,” said Daniel Nergard, President of NDI. “By making NDI a standard feature across a wide range of products, Panasonic is enabling thousands of users to benefit from the seamless integration and powerful flexibility that IP video production offers. “We are excited to see Panasonic leading this change and look forward to the innovative solutions that will emerge as a result of this improved accessibility.”
Globally, Panasonic's NDI-compatible product line includes PTZ cameras such as AW-UE160W/K, AW-UE100W/K and AW-UE80W/K, studio cameras such as AK-UCX100, AW-UB50 4K multipurpose cameras and AW-UB10, AV-HSW10 and AV-UHS500 compact switches, as well as the Kairos IT/IP platform and the Video Mixer plugin for Media Production Suite. Together, they can be used to create flexible and efficient IP video production systems for a wide range of needs. And now, by standardizing NDI integration across its entire product line, Panasonic hopes to advance IP networking of video equipment.
