Panasonic announced it is expanding NDI support within its product line for the professional audiovisual industry.

NDI updates, which previously required a paid license from Vizrt NDI AB, will be available through a free firmware update currently available in Latin America for the AG-CX350 camcorder. Starting in April, however, it will also be available for the AW-UE150, AW-UE50, and AW-UE40 models, which will ship with NDI capabilities out of the box.

The free update will enable NDI functionality as a standard feature on more than 80,000 units currently used in various video production environments. As IP technology continues to play a larger role in video production and rapidly becomes a standard in equipment development, this change will help expand the NDI ecosystem to achieve greater efficiency and flexibility in workflows.

Regarding this important news for the audiovisual sector in Latin America, Rodrigo Costa, Sales Manager for Panasonic Brazil, stated: “By standardizing NDI integration across our entire product line, we are making a clear difference in the progress we are making in the professional industry through the seamless adoption of IP-enabled video equipment, which is absolutely relevant to all our customers in the region.”

NDI WITH PANASONIC

NDI, an open standard for connecting video equipment over IP networks, will allow devices to build systems on standard gigabit IP networks, simplifying the transition of video production workflows to IP environments. As a result of this update, more devices can access NDI-enabled systems on the network, such as switchers, cameras, and media servers. This enables video production teams to seamlessly create and distribute a wide range of content to their audiences.

Furthermore, Panasonic's NDI-enabled PTZ cameras support Power-over-Ethernet (PoE), control, and audio/video transmission over a single Ethernet cable, significantly improving ease of installation and reducing cabling costs.

"By making NDI a standard feature across a wide range of products, Panasonic is enabling thousands of users to benefit from the seamless integration and powerful flexibility offered by IP video production," Costa concluded.
