On March 20th, Panasonic launched the Lumix S1RII at Cena Creators in São Paulo, and it will soon be available for purchase at our retailers throughout Latin America.

The S1RII is a hybrid model with a 44.3 MP full-frame sensor and Lumix's first 8K video recording. It offers excellent photography and video performance with excellent operability and reliability, simplifying creators' workflows.

The event was attended by professionals, influencers, and enthusiasts from the audiovisual sector, who were able to learn about and test our line of Lumix cameras and lenses.

In a brief presentation, Rodrigo Costa, Sales Manager for Panasonic Brazil, stated that with the introduction of the Lumix S1R II in Latin America, the brand is taking a new step in supporting the growth of mirrorless cameras due to the high demand for content production. "Lumix is a recognized and well-established product line worldwide, so making this new camera available to our Latin American customers is part of our strategy to grow our entire sales network regionally," he expressed.

Rafael Plaça, a Panasonic engineer, gave a talk on the technical aspects of the S1RII, highlighting that by recording 6.4K Open Gate video, the Lumix S1RII utilizes the entire sensor area. “This allows for cropping in post-production while preserving image quality, enabling flexible framing for any social media platform or according to the client's needs,” he emphasized, emphasizing that it also offers recording modes for high-end editing. “4K, 60p, 4:2:2, 10-bit ALL-Intra recording combines a huge amount of information with improved resolution thanks to oversampling, achieving exceptional video quality,” he said.

It's worth noting that the new Lumix S1R II is the latest model in the full-frame mirrorless camera series, featuring a newly developed 35.8mm x 23.9mm 44.3MP full-frame BSI CMOS sensor. This sensor offers an ISO range of 200 to 51,200 for video and 40 to 102,400 for stills, and promises up to 14 stops of dynamic range. This camera also features a high-performance processing engine with L2 technology, a joint venture between LUMIX and Leica. It offers internal 8K (7680 x 4320) video recording at up to 30 fps. This resolution can be recorded in a 10-bit, 4:2:0 H264 Long GOP file format. The camera also records in 4K at up to 120 fps in either 8- or 10-bit formats.

For the first time in the Lumix S series, a camera supports internal recording in 5.8K Apple ProRes RAW HQ and ProRes RAW to a CFexpress Type B card. Open Gate recording has been improved with the S1R II, which supports 6.4K resolution recording using the entire sensor. A firmware update will be available in the future to also support 8.1K and 7.2K Open Gate recording.

To round out the activities, a photography workshop was held with Thiago Bruno.
